Vajra is the name
given to the thunderbolt, which is considered of the celestial weapons.
It has two symmetrical sides with a handle in the middle,
which are sometimes pointed.
The vajra is a powerful symbol in Buddhism, especially in
tantric forms (secret, ritual-based religious practices) prevalent in Tibet,
yet it is seldom seen in Hindu imagery.
It is said to be an attribute of the gods Ganesh and Vishnu
in various forms, but it is not as significant as some of the other symbols.
