Hinduism - Who Is Urvashi In Hindu Mythology?

In Hindu mythology, a specific celestial nymph (apsara) who is most famed for her affiliation with King Pururavas.

Urvashi agrees to remain with the Pururavas on the condition that she would never see him nude.

When she is missing from heaven for an extended period of time, the god Indra observes her absence and devises a plan to bring her back.

He sends numerous lesser deities to kidnap two lambs that Urvashi adores, and as Pururavas rushes up to reclaim them, a flash of lightning exposes him nude, and Urvashi flees.

They are separated for a while before reuniting—in some cases permanently, in others for just one night a year.
