One of the five
physical "winds" responsible for fundamental body activities in
traditional Indian physiology, the others being prana, apana, vyana, and
samana.
The udana wind is said to live in the neck and to be the
force that propels objects out of the mouth, most notably speech and music, but
also burps and (probably) vomit.
