The three
physiological humours of vata ("air"), pitta ("bile"), and
kapha ("phlegm") are referred to as vata ("air"), pitta
("bile"), and kapha ("phlegm") in Ayurveda.
Each of these humours is linked to certain physiological
characteristics, particularly in terms of digestion and metabolism.
Every individual has all three humours, however one is often
prominent.
The three humours are in general balance in a healthy
person, but an imbalance may lead to disease or chronic health issues.
The key to restoring correct balance between the doshas, or
humours, is to consume a healthy diet, which is one of the most effective ways
to do so.
