("belonging to
oneself") Mode of conceiving a lover-beautiful connection in which the man and lady are
wedded to one other.
The svakiya relationship is socially respectable—it is
sanctioned by society, upholds social propriety, and is fertile and
procreative.
Despite the fact that this kind of connection is wealthy and
cherished, it is thought to be less passionate than the adulterous parakiya
relationship, in which the lovers acquire nothing except their love.
Although the marriage between the deity Krishna and his wife
Radha is usually characterized as parakiya, certain Vaishnava sects, such as
the Radhavallabh society, believe that it is svakiya, probably expressing
apprehensions about sanctioning adultery even by the gods.
