Childbirth-related impurity (ashaucha) (sutaka).
All body effluvia (hair, spittle, pus, blood, etc.) are
considered causes of impurity, and birth is considered unclean because of this,
despite the fact that it is always seen as a joyous and auspicious occurrence.
There is also maranashaucha, or impurity induced by death,
but the presence of the body makes this impurity more powerful; it is, of
course, considered inauspicious.
