The Jyotir Math, Shringeri Math, and Govardhan Math are the
other three mathematics or holy sites for Hindu ascetics (sometimes translated
as "monasteries").
The Sharada Math lies in the western sector, in the city of
Dwaraka in the state of Gujarat, near the Arabian Sea's beach.
Shankaracharya is credited with founding the Dashanami
Sanyasis, Hinduism's most revered ascetic order.
The Dashanami ("ten names") ascetics are Shiva
followers (bhakta) split into 10 divisions, each with its own name.
Each of the four main organizational groups—Anandawara,
Bhogawara, Bhuriwara, and Kitawara—has two or three of the 10 divisions and is
linked to one of the four mathematics.
The Kitawara group is linked to the Sharada Math.
