Setubandha

 

Setubandha is a term used to describe a group of people who have come together to form ("Bridge Construction") Rama's conquest of Lanka is described by constructing a bridge over the ocean straits in this early medieval poetry based on the epic Ramayana.

The poem is written in Prakrit, a phrase that refers to the grammatically simpler vernacular languages that evolved from Sanskrit as a result of spontaneous linguistic development.

The poem has been attributed to Kalidasa, the greatest Sanskrit poet, incorrectly.

The real author has yet to be discovered.
