Sattva

("goodness") is a Sanskrit word that means "goodness." One of the three fundamental mental characteristics (gunas) said to exist in everything.

Rajas ("passion") and tamas ("darkness") are the other two gunas.

Different amounts of these attributes, according to this concept, account for variances in tangible object features as well as particular human talents and dispositions.

Sattva is the most positive of the three and is associated with kindness, truth, wholesomeness, health, rational thinking, and deep-rooted religious life.

The idea of these three gunas came from the Samkhya school's metaphysics, which is one of the six schools of ancient Hindu philosophy.

Despite the fact that much of the Samkhya metaphysics associated with the gunas has been disproved, the notion of the gunas and their attributes has remained ingrained in Indian society.
