("Sanaka and his
associates") Sanaka, Sanandana, Sanatana, and Sanatkumara are four sages
who were born of Brahma and are para digms of asceticism, according to Hindu
mythology.
When Brahma manifests them, he tells them to begin the job
of creation, but they reject since they are so distant from mundane concerns.
They have lived a life of celibacy, have studied the Vedas
from infancy, and constantly travel together.
