Raktabija is the name
of one of the demons defeated by the goddess Kali in the Devimahatmya, the
oldest and most significant literary source for Goddess worship.
Raktabija has been granted the ability to transform each
drop of his blood that falls to the ground into a new version of himself, making
him almost unconquerable.
Kali overcomes this monster by drinking his blood as it is
spilt, until both he and the demon are utterly gone.
