Purochana is a minister of Duryodhana, the epic's antagonist, in the Mahabharata, the later of the two major Hindu epics.
He instructs Duryodhana to construct the House of Lac in
order to assassinate the Pandavas, Duryodhana's relatives and the epic's heroes.
Purochana sets fire to the House of Lac after the Pandavas
move there.
The Pandavas, who had been warned about the danger by their
uncle Vidura, are able to escape by a hidden subterranean passage, but
Purochana is killed in the fire.
