Pratyaksha

("concerning the eye") is a phrase that means "concerning the eye." Pratyaksha is the broad name for sense perception in Indian philosophy; all philosophical systems recognize perception as one of the pramanas, the ways by which human beings might receive real and correct knowledge, and the materialist school accepts it as the sole pramana.

Although the literal definition of the term indicates solely information from the eyes, this pramana also contains data from the other four human senses, as well as "perceptions" gained by magical cognition, yogic insight, or any other supernatural skills or occurrences.
