Having several husbands. This is a very unusual behavior in Indian culture, both currently and in the past.
Draupadi is married to all five of the Pandava brothers, the
epic's protagonists, in the epic Mahabharata, which is the most well-known
legendary example.
Textual scholars have suggested that since this sort of
marriage was so unique, it had to be based on an ancient custom, but there is
no evidence to support this assertion.
In modern times, polyandry is only prevalent on the
outskirts of Hindu culture, such as in Assam and other Himalayan areas, where
ancient norms have enabled one woman to marry several brothers, following
Draupadi's example.
