Phallic Emblem is widely represented as the "Linga"
or “Shiva Linga” in India.
The linga is a pillar-shaped artefact that represents the
deity Shiva in his symbolic form.
The Gudimallam linga's exact sculptural form, which dates
from at least the second century B.C.E., provides no question that this phallic
feature is one of the symbol's aspects.
The base (pitha) in which the shaft is put, thought to
depict the female organs of creation, is sometimes neglected as an equally
essential aspect of the linga's picture.
Shiva is therefore both masculine and female in his symbolic
form, an ideal shape for a god who is known for transcending all dualism.
