Hinduism - What Is Narasimha Jayanti?

Narasimha Jayanti is a Hindu festival commemorating the birth of Lord Narasimha.

On the sixteenth day of the bright, waxing half of the lunar month of Baisakh (April–May), a religious ritual is held.

Although his birthday differs from those of Vishnu's human incarnations, this day is commemorated as the birthday of Vishnu's fourth avatar, Narasimha.

Narasimha is a monster having the head and shoulders of a lion and the torso and lower body of a man, rather than a human.

He isn't born in the traditional sense, but rather emerges fully formed from a pillar to defeat Hiranyakashipu and defend his devotee (bhakta) Prahlada.

Also also the Man-Lion avatar.
