Hinduism - Who Is Narada In Hindu Mythology?

In Hindu mythology, a prominent sage known for his abilities as a musician and a gossip.

Narada is the gods' bard, playing a stringed instrument known as the vina.

His passion as a musician seems to be greater than his actual ability, since he is described as being humiliated in numerous of his mythological tales.

He also relays news and gossip in his role as a roaming musician.

Narada's news bearing is often used to advance the storyline of a novel.

According to legend, he asks Vishnu to perform a magic display for him (maya).

Vishnu sends Narada to a neighboring farm home to get some water, where he encounters an enthrallingly gorgeous lady.

They fall in love, marry, and have multiple children, forgetting about his purpose.

Severe floodwaters wipe away his house and drown his family after many years of married bliss.

As he laments his loss, he finds himself back by the side of the road with Vishnu, who continues to urge him to return to the farmhouse for some water.
