(“home/temple”) The most
frequent word for a temple in northern India where a deity's image has been
erected and consecrated for worship.
Although such temples often contain facilities for
congregational prayer, social life, or cultural events, the main purpose of the
structure is to house the deities who are regarded the temple's true
proprietors.
