Mandakini River is a Himalayan tributary of the Ganges River that enters the Alakananda River near the Uttar Pradesh hill town of Rudraprayag.
The Mandakini, like all of the Ganges' Himalayan
tributaries, is considered holy.
At its headwaters, Kedarnath, Guptakashi, and Rudraprayag
are important pilgrimage destinations (tirtha).
