enormous illusionary power") The Devimahatmya, the oldest and most
significant literary source for the idea that God is feminine, has an epithet
of the Goddess.
This epithet indicates her status as the universe's only and
ultimate force, despite the fact that she wields the power of illusion to keep
this reality hidden from human perception.
