According to legend, there are six such mahakavyas:
the poet Kalidasa's
Kumarasambhava,
Meghaduta,
and Raghuvamsha;
the poet Magha's
Shishupala-vadha;
the poet Bharavi's
Kiratarjuniya;
and the poet-king Harsha's
Naishadacharitra.
