Lotus is a flower that has a lot of meaning and symbolism in Hindu culture and iconography.
It is often associated with the Goddess Lakshmi as (Lotus)Padma-Lakshmi.
She is often portrayed in Hindu Art, as a Goddess seated upon a large lotus flower.
In more contemporary times, it also seen in the official/political symbol of the Hindu Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)
