In central India, there is a tribal (adivasi) group known as Gond.
The Gonds are mostly
found in Madhya Pradesh, particularly in the hills on both sides of the Vindhya
Mountains, in the Kaimur Range on Madhya Pradesh's eastern border with Uttar
Pradesh, and in the Ramgarh Hills on the boundary of Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, and
Bihar.
They, like other indigenous peoples, are destitute and rely
on subsistence cultivation to make ends meet.
