Ikshvaku was a
monarch who founded the Solar Line in the Ramayana, the earlier of the two
major Indian epics.
The Solar Line, along with the Lunar Line, was one of the
two main Indian legendary lineages in ancient India; the god-king Rama and his
brothers were the most prominent members of the Solar Line.
Ikshvaku is the grandson of the sun, Vivasvan (Surya), and hence he and his progeny are sun descendants.
