Manimegalai is a Tamil epic poem composed as a sequel to "The Jeweled Anklet" (Shilappadigaram), linking the characters from the prior play.
The novel revolves on a young lady called Manimegalai, who,
despite being courted by the local prince, decides to become a Buddhist nun.
Manimegalai engages in several disputes with individuals of
various religious traditions, providing a picture of religious life in
sixth-century southern India.
