Krpacharya is a
legendary archer who instructs both the Pandavas and the Kauravas, the two
contending families in the Mahabharata, the later of the two major Hindu epics.
Duryodhana, the Kaurava leader, is a supporter of
Krpacharya.
During the year that the Pandavas are in hiding, he sends
spies to track them out.
He fights on the side of the Kauravas in the Mahabharata
battle.
During the night raid after the Pandava triumph, he sets
fire to the Pandava camp, which is his most crucial deed.
Those who attempt to escape the flames are all murdered.
He spends some time after the war at the court of
Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava brother, but eventually abandons the world to
live in the forest.
