("family
practice") Any religious practice that is limited to a family, whether it
be a group of blood relatives or persons who share a common religious or
sectarian ancestry.
In the lack of any organized religious hierarchy with the
capacity to offer judgments on such acts, the authority provided to kulachara
allows for practically endless variance in religious practice.
For most Hindus, family tradition is the most influential factor in forming their own religious life.
