The
Nirmohis are one of the three Naga anis ("armies") among the Bairagi
Nagas, renunciant ascetics who are worshippers of Vishnu.
The Digambaras and Nirvanis are the others.
These anis were formerly genuine combat groups who earned a
fortune as merchants and mercenary warriors, but nowadays they are mostly
responsible for deciding the sequence of the bathing processions during the
Kumbha Mela.
The Digambaras are the most significant of the three Naga
anis, and they take priority during the Kumbha Mela.
