Shrichandra Udasi

(1494–1612?) Shrichandra Udasi ("indifferent") austere community's historical founder.

Guru Nanak, the first of the Sikh community's ten gurus, had an older son named Shrichandra.

Despite the fact that Shrichandra was a dedicated and holy man, Nanak chose to name one of his disciples, Angad, as the second Sikh guru.

According to legend, Guru Nanak disapproved of Shrichandra's austere state since he believed his disciples should enjoy married lives in normal society.

Shrichandra garnered a sizable following as a result of his lineage and devotion, although the Udasis have always been considered Hindus.

The Udasis march third in the bathing parade behind the Sanyasis and the Bairagis at the Kumbha Mela, a major bathing (snana) event conducted in several locations throughout northern India.
