Chintapurni is one of the Shiwalik goddesses, a collection of local deities who are all thought to be expressions of a single feminine divine spirit in the Shiwalik Hills.
Chintapurni is a form of the goddess Chinnamasta, and this temple is one of the few in the world devoted only to her.
