(b. 1931) Since 1964, Shri Chinmoy has spent most of his time speaking to Western audiences as a modern Hindu teacher and missionary.
He emphasizes the significance of vegetarianism, discipline, and service to one's guru in his teachings, which are mainly based on traditional yoga principles.
As an example to his followers, he lives a simple and unobtrusive lifestyle.
On the one side, he is known for his dedication to the arts—painting, poetry, and music, especially the bamboo flute—and on the other, for demonstrating the power of thought over matter via incredible feats of strength.
He is located in New York City, although he travels all around the globe, as do many contemporary Hindu instructors.
