According to the Gilgamesh Epic, Apsu and Tiamat mingled to create Lahmu and Lahamu, then Anshar and Kishar.
- Anshar was Anu's father, the sky deity.
- One of two sets of twins born to Apsu and Tiamat in the Akkadian creation story.
- Anu, the son of Anshar and Kishar, the other twin, is represented as the yoke of the wagon star, believed to be Polaris.
