Hinduism - What Is The Bhairavaprakasha?

 Bhairavaprakasha Or "Bhairava's brilliance"

The Mahanirvani akhara, a subgroup of the Naga class of the Dashanami Sanyasis, has given its spear the name Mahanirvani.

  • The Dashanami Nagas are Shiva worshippers (bhakta) who are divided into various akharas, or regiments, similar to an army.
  • The Nagas' main profession until the beginning of the nineteenth century was as mercenary warriors, but they also had significant trade interests; both of these vocations have virtually vanished in modern times.
  • All of the akharas have distinguishing characteristics, such as this spear, that serve to identify their organizational identity.
