(“external sacrifice”) Bahiryaga refers to any kind of religious activity including acts, words, or the manipulation of physical things in Hindu worship, particularly in the esoteric ritual tradition known as tantra.
- Most individuals only participate in this kind of worship.
- However, the ultimate aim of tantra is to internalize these acts via repeated practice, transforming them into antaryaga (“internal sacrifice”), in which all outward activities are replaced by mental deeds.
