One of the five body "winds" (the others being prana, vyana, udana, and samana) said to be responsible for fundamental physiological processes.
- The apana wind is said to occur in the anus area and is linked to the release of bodily waste such as urine, feces, gas, semen, menstrual discharges, and childbirth.
