Antarala is a word that means "intermediate space."
- The antarala was a space between the main hall of a temple and the inner sanctum (garbhagrha), which held the image of the temple's principal deity.
- Nagara architecture, one of three main types of Hindu temples, is distinguished by the antarala.
- Only the biggest temples had this area, and many smaller ones did not have it at all.
