Anandamayi Ma. (1896–1982) was a Hindu mystic and saint who acquired a large following as a manifestation of the Mother Goddess across Hindu culture throughout her lifetime.
She was born in modern-day Dhaka, Bangladesh, and exhibited significant spiritual inclinations from an early age.
After her marriage, she became even more engrossed in happy meditation, blissfully unaware of her surroundings and the passing of time.
- Her marriage was never completed, and her husband became one of her most devoted followers.
- She resided in an ashram in the city of Benares, which is revered as a holy place, for a while (tirtha).
- She then established an ashram in Haridwar, where her samadhi (“burial”) shrine may be seen.
