Magi is the plural version of the word "magus."
- The Magi were once a highly educated class of Medes and Persians who performed magical arts.
- They adhered to indigenous Iranian spiritual traditions.
- Their practices and system of beliefs and ritual predated and were eventually replaced by Zoroastrianism, while the Magi retained some official status.
- Up to the Christian period, the Magi existed.
- Their fame was such that the term "magic" was derived from their name.
