Binding can be considered a category or type of spell work. Depending on the purpose or intent of the spell caster binding spells are broadly defined and divided into two categories.
In order to pre-emptively guard oneself it is necessary to divine and determine the nature of the binding that is being cast or manifesting.
It's also better to know which kind they're referring about if they ever threaten you with one.
• Spells that unite two persons, like in an everlasting soul marriage
• Spells that bind a person's power, generally to keep them from harming others.
