A contemporary spiritual path rooted on old Nordic traditions.
- The phrase has been used to indicate allegiance to and preservation of pre-Christian Nordic religion since the late nineteenth century, and it literally means "faith in the Aesir."
- This tradition is also known as Forn Sior (Ancient Way) or Hedensk sed in Scandinavia (Heathen custom).
In 1972, Iceland recognized Asatru as an official religion.
