Karuna is a term that refers to any intervention that seeks to alleviate the misery of others. Karuna means "compassionate gesture" in Sanskrit. When William L. Rand used the symbols channeled by other Reiki Masters including Kellie-Ray Marine, Pat Courtney, Marla Abraham, and Marcy Miller, he created the Karuna system of Reiki. Rand regarded the icons as extremely useful, but he believed they also held a great deal of promise. He named this modern Reiki practice Karuna after he used direct meditation to become attuned with the images and unleash their full power.
Karuna is a character in the film Karuna Reiki's aura is more focused and operates on all of the energy bodies at the same time. Only after they have trained as Reiki practitioners do they obtain attunement from their Reiki master.
They often need to communicate with their Spirit Guides, Angels, and Higher Selves, and they sometimes sense their influence.
